The Greek word for faith, pistis, was a word meaning political loyalty and allegiance. The religious is political. The political is religious.

Praying the News, Monday, March 2, 2015
Today. Today, you are needed. We are off balance, reeling, and using violence to solve all of our problems. Somewhere, somehow, hedge us. Draw boundaries around us. Do not let us do this violence in Iran. Do not let us kill your daughter transformed. A life for a life was meant to be a limit for us. Not an encouragement. And we seem to be racing toward taking life ad nauseam. I know it makes me sick. It is making all of us sick. Benjamin needs to be transformed so he does not encourage violence. Kelly already has been. Save us from Benjamin. Rise up in us to save Kelly. Please put a hedge around us. Violence is sin. Wake us up to that. Amen.
