Praying the News, Friday, March 13, 2015
What is it about us, O God, that we would choose a potential Armageddon over negotiation. Why would we undercut the currents of peace? And yet, I know that is the human story. It begins with Cain and stretches out sevenfold from there. I wish I knew how to lead a different way. I know, however, that I'm caught as much in this mesh as anyone else. I'm a slave to it as much as anyone else. So extend certain grace to me. That I might not worry or concern myself with my foibles with the world burning to hell. Draw the spotlight off of me and to the things worth struggling for, worth sacrificing for, worth being the kind of peacemaker that challenges me with risk and life and the movement of your Spirit. Do not let me remain here. Amen.
