The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

Cain killed Abel as the original sin.  Yet here we still are--killing each other, using violence to make our neighborhoods safe, striking down anything that is Black so that we might feel more secure.  How?  Why?  This seem so absent of you that I lose hope.  And yet! And yet, here is this pastor teaching young African-American children how to protest non-violently.  He shames us and challenges us.  Why is this not trumpeted loud and far?  Why do we not see the ongoing reports of strong, confrontational, peaceful protest?  We fabricate animal figures out of our African-American sisters and brothers while we put on body armor, use batons across foreheads, shoot kill-shots, and drive around in our Humvees.  These images of white fear will be broadcast across our networks, Mother of Mercies!  Your name will be invoked to justify it all.  Meanwhile, silently and collectively, your work is being done as an answer to Cain's legacy.  Magnify these strong, confrontational, peaceful protests!  Make them known so that your great heart might be known.  And save us from white fear.  Amen.
